The Best of Us
Worry and anxiety are feelings that are difficult to manage in a world that is low on grace and high on shame. Here are the top three things I worry about.
Making mistakes
Getting hurt
Disappointing people
This world will punish you greatly when you go through those three.
Over the last couple of weeks, I've been thinking about the people in my life I greatly respect—people who are a lot stronger, smarter, and more talented than me. Without exception, all of them have experienced my big three fears. Here's the thing that gets me. I don't think less of them, and I only want to be in their corner to cheer them on. The best of us experience my top three fears. The best have all made mistakes, been hurt, and disappointed others.
If I find myself cheering on those who stumble and try to get up again, I have to believe there will be those who will do the same for me. If I can do that, I can keep challenging myself to work hard, learn, and grow to become the best version of myself while working through the anxiety of the moment.
