Haters and Creators

Complaining is easy.

The road taken by the chronic complainer is broad, and many walk it.

A growing segment of society loves to see people fail and cheer with delight when they do. Opportunistic and with no skin in the game, these kinds of people wait for their food to arrive at the table to find something wrong in an attempt to get a free meal. They revel in someone else's failure.

Don't get me wrong; good, constructive criticism has value. But whiners don't produce anything worth keeping. Complaining is a fruitless activity. Haters don't contribute, and no one with a life enjoys spending time with them.

I love keeping company with people who: plant, build, create, and make whatever space they're in better. I like creators because they rarely wear the label of victim. They exercise their own agency on a regular basis. It’s been my experience that those who create don't waste time being armchair critics.

They challenge me to create more than I consume.

It's why I try to make sure that I do something creative each week. It doesn't have to be revolutionary, but investing a bit of energy into shaping something new is life-giving. It's worth doing.

So friend, thank you for reading, and I hope you find an opportunity to plant, build or create something...anything this week!

It's good for you, and it's good for those around you. Don’t be a hater, be a creator.
